Ian Rankin declares the Galle Literary Festival his world favourite -
At an interview at the Harrogate Crime Festival, Ian Rankin nominated Galle as his favourite literary festival in the world. "They treat you like royalty!" he said. Ian Rankin visted Galle in January 2010 and was a guest of the festiival.

Rana Dasgupta
Rana Dasgupta won the Commonwealth Writers Prize for his book Solo. Incidentally, he read this book by candlelight at the Festival in 2010.

Shehan Karunatilaka
Shehan Karunatilaka's book Chinaman: The Legend of Pradeep Mathew published by Random House in 2011. He read from the novel in manuscript at the opening of the Festival 2009 and won the Gratiaen Prize for it shortly after.
