Ismeth Raheem is an artist and architect trained at the Royal Danish Academy, who specializes in the Art History of paintings and engravings of the Colonial Period in Sri Lanka. He has published several exhibition catalogues on the subject. His contributions to the Dictionary of Art (Macmillan, 1991, London) vary from a study of 19th century photography to a history of architecture in Sri Lanka. He is a former Council Member of the Royal Asiatic Society (Sri Lanka Branch). He was Secretary of the Conference in Sri Lanka, of the South Asian Branch of the International Council for Bird Preservation, and later President of the Bird Club in the 1990s.
