Thavayoganathan Sajitharan is a poet, journalist and translator. His first book of poetry in Tamil, Oliyin Malalaihal (Children of Light) was published in 2006, with an introduction by Professor M.A. Nuhman of University of Peradeniya. The book has been favorably reviewed in the national press. He contributes to many literary journals and magazines. Sajitharan, who holds a diploma in journalism, began his career in 2005 as a reporter at the Sri Lankan English weekly Sunday Observer. In 2007, he joined the English weekly, Lakbimanews, where he penned a regular column on national issues, in addition to news reporting. He now works with Internews Sri Lanka.
