Wendy Cope is an award-winning contemporary English poet. She taught for many years before becoming a freelance writer. Three books of her poetry have been published, Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis (1986), Serious Concerns (1992) and If I Don't Know (2001). She has also edited several anthologies of comic verse and was a judge of the 2007 Man Booker Prize. Interestingly, even though Cope has been the popular choice for the title of Poet Laureate more than once, she has stated that she believes that the post should be discontinued. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and lives in Winchester, England. Her poetry is unique for its often witty and humourous manner. Her latest book, Two Cures for Love (hardback 2008, paperback 2009) is a selection of poems from her three previous collections.
