FOR CHILDREN.
THE PROGRAMME IS NOW FULL.
The 2008 Galle Literary
Festival features a selection of fun-filled and informative
workshops and discussions with a variety of authors. Suitable
for young people from 6-16.
The Children's programme takes place over two days. On Saturday, 19th January 2008 all Children's events will be held at The Thomas Gall International School, Galle Fort and on Sunday, 20th January 2008 all events will be held at The Lighthouse Hotel, Galle.
All events are FREE and are held in English.
All children must register their names at the Festival Box Office at Barefoot in Galle or Colombo.
The following is some more information on some of our other Children’s initiatives.
We are predominantly working with Sri Lankan schools in the Southern Province and our aim is to promote educational and learning opportunities for all children, exposing them to English literature. It is also our objective to promote integration & unity of children across the island.
ADOPTSRILANKA TWINS CREATIVE WRITING COMPETITION
Adopt Sri Lanka Twins will be conducting for a 2nd year a creative writing competition among Galle Zonal Schools in the English language.
The objectives of the competition are to:
- encourage students to think and express themselves creatively
- support English language learning
- recognize and award student literary achievement
- collaborate with Galle Literary festival in Jan 2008, announcing a winner at the Opening ceremony.
The competition will be conducted at three different age levels:
Pre-intermediate level – Grade 6 & 7 Students (age 11 & 12)
Intermediate level – Grade 8 & 9 Students (age 13 & 14)
Upper intermediate level – Grade 10 & 11 Students (age 15 & 16)
ADOPTSRILANKA TWINS DEBATING COMPETITION
AdoptSriLanka Twins will be holding Debating Competitions in every district of the Southern Province. This is an on going year long initiative in conjunction with the Galle Literary Festival 2008. A model debate will be held and the competition launched during the festival.
