Children's Programme
The 2007 Galle Literary Festival features a selection of fun-filled and informative workshops, debates & essay-writing competitions for young people aged from 3 to 16 years old.
All workshops are FREE and are held in English.
We are predominantly working with Sri Lankan schools in the Southern Province and our aim is to promote educational and learning opportunities for all children, exposing them to English literature. It is also our objective to promote integration and unity among children across the island.

Children will be treated to an action packed hour of story telling by Barbara Sansoni, designer, artist & author of the best selling children’s book Missy Fu and Tikkira Banda and Press with the Toes in the Grass.

Children will learn how to make their own compost and will plant seeds and trees as they gain an understanding of the basic fundamentals of the environment.
Suitable for children aged 5 years plus.

Colour Workshop |

Colour co-ordination based on the colour wheel
The master of colour, Barbara Sansoni will give senior students an understanding of the colour wheel, and how to combine and contrast colours.
Suitable for students aged 16 years and over.

AdoptSriLanka Twins Creative Writing Competition
AdoptSriLanka Twins are proudly sponsoring a creative writing competition among Galle Zonal Schools in the English language.
The objectives of the competition are to:
- To encourage students to think and express themselves creatively
- To support English-language learning
- To create a paragraph, story, essay etc in English.
- To recognize and award student literary achievement.
- To collaborate with Galle Literary Festival in Jan 2007
The competition will be open to two age groups:
Intermediate level – Grade 7 & 8 Students (age 12 & 13)
Upper intermediate level – Grade 9 & 10 Students (age 14 & 15)
AdoptSriLanka Twins Debating Competition
AdoptSriLanka Twins will be holding debating competitions in every district of the Southern Province. This will be a year-long initiative commencing in line with the Galle Literary Festival 2007. Zonal-wide winners will be awarded and all participants will attend a debating workshop prior to the competition.
